RackWare SWIFT for Microsoft Azure
RackWare SWIFT is a Converged Disaster Recovery, Backup and Migration solution for Kubernetes and OpenShift. It is a cross-platform, cross-cloud and cross version solution, meaning it can move and protect any Kubernetes or OpenShift deployment from any source to AKS. As part of any Migration or Disaster Recovery transformation to AKS, any source storage type can be transitioned to any of the AKS storage types, including Azure Disk, Azure File System, Azure File Share, CSI Azure Disk and CSI Azure File Share.
Storage Account Types
All Azure AKS storage types, including Azure disk and file, are supported with SWIFT for your applications. RackWare SWIFT allows you to choose storage type and SKU combinations and will automatically provision it for your applications, irrespective of current storage used by your containerized application.
Specifically, the following storage types are supported with SWIFT:
Azure Disk
Azure File Share
CSI Storage Volumes for Azure Disk
CSI Storage Volumes for Azure File Share
These storage types cover everything you need to get started with hosting your applications on the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) using RackWare’s specialized services. SWIFT currently supports all public clouds and native storage there along with major storages like Ceph. The list of source storage types is rapidly expanding.
Integration Advantages
Organizations are looking for solutions that provide higher deployment speeds, better security, and prompt customer service and maintenance. To meet the ever-changing demands of technology, it was important for RackWare to prioritize migration, protection, and management for Azure users. As Azure’s AKS allows seamless Any-To-Any replication, backup, and DR solution, Azure can be used in many multiple ways. While the benefits of Azure’s AKS are many, we will list down some of them below.
Better Security
With RackWare, no unnecessary data is collected from client organizations, hence leaving very little probability of a lapse in security.
Simple, Effective Checkpoints
The RackWare Azure integration allows you to set checkpoints in your applications where you can see progress, take snapshots and manage storage accordingly. These snapshots are stored in a secure place, allowing you to revisit them if necessary. Backed up application can be restored to any Kubernetes cluster managed under SWIFT.
A Hybrid Model
It’s imperative that the mobility of the applications is seamless and the deployments to cloud smooth. RackWare SWIFT simplifies integrating, hosting, and managing your apps on Azure, on-prem databases, or a combination of cloud and/or on-prem environments.
Simple App-Neutral Migration, Backup, and DR
Take any containerized app, from any platform - on-prem or public cloud, and Swift allows you to do seamless backup and DR without any application reconfigs or downtime. Integrating Azure into Rackware’s implementation has allowed the applications to be moved from one container to another quite easily without version conflicts, data loss and sizing issues. Changing the namespace and configurations is easy as well.
Any to Azure is a Reality Now
A variety of storage-type supported for snapshots for your on-prem or source cloud based application, making Any-to-AKS migration, backup, and DR a reality.
Rackware’s Azure integration is especially intriguing because it will enable Any-to-Any migration, backup and restore in a smooth and consistent manner. This Any-to-Any implementation refers to the power of Azure cloud and it’s pre-built integration with Kubernetes (AKS).
Bottom line
Azure is one of the most popular cloud storage and service providers in the world. The integration between Azure and RackWare makes application and data migrations to the cloud simpler, cheaper, and more efficient.
